Pre School

Once children are three they move up to the Tree House Pre School the following term. Before starting in our Pre School all children will have taster sessions to help explore the new environment. For all families new to the Potting Shed this will include an initial parent meeting. On the second of these tasters each child will be given a gift – their new Pre School uniform!! Each child will be given (free of charge) one zip hoodie and white T-shirt to wear to Potting Shed.

Our Pre School is led and supported by a qualified teachers; Lisa Sansom (Pre School Leader) and Sarah Roper. Through a Reggio approach, children explore all areas the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that continues into the reception year of primary education. We promote independence and social education in order to support children’s ‘readiness for school’. We have built upon our links with the local primary schools and this is helping provide a good transition for children entering their reception class.

We offer an interesting and stimulating learning environment and create activities based around topics of the children’s’ choosing. The experiences that we offer are designed to expand understanding of the prime and specific areas of learning.

Your child will continue to have a Key Person who will plan for your child as an individual to ensure that they are supported in line with EYFS and their current level of development. Daily observations are made regarding your child’s progress and interests and this is recorded in their individual learning diary. Parents are welcome to see this at all times.

Children continue to benefit from the large quantity of outdoor space through free flow play. In addition to this, they are offered the opportunity to join our weekly Forest School, which gives the children the opportunity to explore our surrounding area and create things from the natural environment. Forest School is an additional session and costs only £4 per session.
